The Lovecraft Cycle is a song cycle for an augmented Pierrot ensemble featuring text from H.P. Lovecraft’s sonnet cycle “Fungi from Yuggoth”. The poems tell of a human who experiences supernatural visions of unfathomable cosmic worlds filled with demons and monsters. While the first three poems serve as an exposition, the rest notably lack chronological form, frequently crossing timelines that span otherworldly dimensions. The Lovecraft Cycle uses seven of the sonnets and keeps intact the concept of each poem containing its own unique small-scale story and mood, but together an overarching narrative appears from the selected poems, too.
